Hydrachill successfully created another industry first with the commissioning of the UK’s first free water refilling facilities for commuters using Transport for London’s Hammersmith Bus Station and Hammersmith Tube.

The Hammersmith project sponsored by Thames Water and supported by the Mayor of London’s office, allows commuters 24 hour refilling access to free chilled & filtered mains water, refillable to all bottles.

For those without a convenient container, an attractive TfL branded reusable bottle is available from the machine, to be retained and reused in the fight against single use plastic bottles. Revenue from reusable bottle sales is used to fund service and maintenance of the Hammersmith facility, at no cost to Transport for London.

Such has been the success and response to the Hammersmith installation that further TfL free refill facilities have ensued, with London River Services commissioning customised HydraChill units along their major River Thames hubs at Tower, Westminster and Embankment Piers.

Ten million commuters and tourists using LRS ferry services can now avail themselves of free refills of chilled and filtered drinking water, courtesy of Transport for London’s (TfL) commitment to improving river passenger amenities.

Attractively customised reusable bottles with graphics capturing key London features along the Tames and symbolising London’s commitment to reducing plastic waste, can be purchased by either cash or card transaction from the machines. These have proved valuable revenue generators in a shared profit scheme devised for location.

“We’re constantly looking at ways to improve our customers experience whilst traveling on our network. As part of that, we have worked with Hydrachill and Tames Water to keep customers refreshed during their commute”
